31 50 years, 50 spaces Five weeks of exhibition at the recent edition of Casa Decor in Madrid which was visited by nearly 35,000 visitors who wanted to experience at first hand the latest fashion in decoration at the latest edition of Casa Decor in Madrid which was celebrating its 50th birthday. 50 years have passed since the first edition of Casa Decor and that is why the event organizers wanted to celebrate this anniversary in style with a product offering that went beyond the merely decorative but rather concentrated on the exhibition´s staging. For the first time in 23 years of Casa Decor in the capital, the very authentic and yet modern neighborhood of Malasaña hosted the 2015 event which took place last spring, transferring the ‘trendy’ and urban flair that permeates the streets to within the building at La Palma No. 10. This is an historic building, completely refurbished, which distributes its 2,600 square meters between the ground floor and four floors and which hosted the event where 80 companies and 66 professionals participated. The Exhibition: solid, homogeneous, easy to navigate and with the charm of the original architecture of the building, with unique elements like a brick courtyard and visible beams. 50 Fashion Spaces Casa Decor devoted a total of 50 spaces to fashion trends that revealed the main issues in decoration today: the predominant use of green; the revival of velvet for upholstery, curtains and coverings; the use of natural wood in unusual applications; new uses for marble and granite; the omnipresence of aged mirrors and exotic tropical items adapted to use in the habitat, with the palms as the leading element, as a tribute to the host building. Among the 66 professionals involved in this edition, interior designers, architects, artists and landscape designers stood out and in some cases triumphed in their return to Casa Decor; and on the other hand there were young hopefuls for whom the event is an opportunity to become known in the business. More parallel events than ever Lectures, conferences, round tables, meetings with bloggers and the press, tastings, decor workshops, cocktails ... more events than ever characterized this participatory Casa Decor which wanted to demonstrate that it is more than just a decorative exhibition, with three major, new developments: a design shop, an art gallery and a private dining room managed by the organization itself.n Hall “Loft in Love”, por Manuel Espejo / Hall “Loft in Love”, by Manuel Espejo Fachada del edificio Palma 10 y espacio Telva, por Rotaeche&Santayana / Building Palma 10 and space Telva, by Rotaeche&Santayana
